Entertainer, Marketer, Educator; I’ve had experience as all three.
As an Entertainer, I have experience in Movies, Television, and Commercials, I’ve performed dances at events ranging from memorized routines, freestyle, and weapon dancing, and have done street dancing all over California and Japan. I’ve also recently become quite good at singing karaoke, able to sing over 40 song in Japanese, most from the 70s to 90s.
As a Marketer, I worked at an IT company specializing in communication as Marketing Director, running the website, events, campaigns, social media, email, managing the and developing a database of contact, and creating a call code system, and automatic logic workflows based on contact response. I helped create and executed marketing plans, helping to direct the overall strategy and the tactics employed.
As an Educator, I’ve taught at Kindergarten, Elementary, and Junior High Schools in Japan. I created and ran a Japanese study group for several years in a city that had limited opportunities to study the language and helped over 30 students in their Japanese studies. I’ve been a group leader in training new teachers, teaching them teaching methodology and sharing my experiences with them. I created a number of training and usage manuals, and ran training sessions for new technologies deployed during my time as a marketing director at the IT company.
These aspects intertwine together to create a whole.
- An Entertainer who Markets and Educates others about himself.
- A Marketer that Entertains to gain attention and then uses that opportunity to Educate.
- An Educator that Markets the appeal of a topic and Entertains to help get a point across.
Going forward I’m looking to apply these three specialties to raise the profile of traditional Japanese culture, arts, and performance, to help them continue on to the next generation. To entertain people with them, to raise their profile and market them, and to facilitate their learning.

Lead Generation – Development and administration of Global CTI's internal lead generation engine that feeds the sales funnel and helps increase sales opportunities. From Email, Direct Mail, Landing Pages, Segmented and Targeted Lists, and more, I put together these various components into campaigns to drive traffic to Webinars, Events, and Downloads. The campaigns are designed with the goal to nurture contacts through the buying cycle, which begins at Awareness, and then proceeds through Consideration, Preference, and once the sale is complete, Loyalty.
Website Management – I made sure the wordpress-based site is up-to-date through management of its plugins and widgets, writing and posting of blog posts, adding events to the calendar, and encouraging turnover through SEO.
Event Logistics – Have managed the logistics for numerous events and managed the attendance drive efforts. From IT panel lunch & learns, to social events at baseball games, horse races, and museums, as well as setting up and manning booths at conferences such as CETPA, CISOA, and MISAC.
PR/Social Media – Social media was updated two to three times a week. Encourage community involvement among staff. I handled internal and external communication efforts, such as our leads and referrals program, our quarterly newsletters, press releases, and important updates for customers. Many of these items are focused on branding efforts and encouraging a positive company culture.
Collateral – I also managed the creation of collateral. Collateral educates about who we are and our clients in both print and video. Have created white papers, ebooks, and product and client data sheets, postcards, event videos, and graphics.
