Rising Sun Relief – Fundraising for Red Cross Japan after 9.0 Earthquake

Helped lead planning, setup, entertainment, and was a performer.

The Rising Sun Relief was organized by the CSUB club Japan And Beyond in response to the March 11th, 2011 9.0 magnitude Touhoku earthquake off the coast of Sendai in Japan. The club, wanting to contribute to relief effort in Japan, decided to put together a school event on May 21st devoted to raising money to donate to Red Cross Japan. Below is a description of the event that took place.

We are doing a fund raising event on May 21 to help those that has lost many things in their life due to the Earthquake and Tsunami. They did not just get hit with one but two Tsunami and an 9.0 magnitude making it the biggest destruction since WWII. The death tolls are nearly over 20,000 dead or missing.

On this day we will be having a live concert with free food and music. There will be Live Dances from Cal State Bakersfield Japan and Beyond members.

The event will be cater by Martin’s meat and we will auction and raffle off an assortment of great prizes. Prizes include (but are not limited to) a private chef who will cook dinner for two, Cafe Med gift cards, and free rafting trips with River’s End Rafting. Multiple CSUB clubs will be present selling snack and the Runner Cafe will also be open the entire time selling food and beverages.

We will have four different bands that will be playing.

PROCEEDS AND DONATIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE RED CROSS AND ALLOCATED TO AREAS MOST EFFECTED IN JAPAN.

Please come and help support us. There will be bands performing and all the money raised will go towards helping the cause in Japan. Time: 12pm to 4pm In front of the Student Union
